Maxima Clams
Tridacna maxima
These clams are more demanding and light loving than the others like squamosa and derasa. They also come in much prettier patterns and colors. In order to keep these colors the clam will require intense lighting. Clams less than 2 inches rely more on feeding than on lighting for survival. Clams of this size will need regular feedings of foods such as DT's Phytoplankton.

These clams are kept and photographed under 400w 10K CoralVue metal halide bulbs. The flash of my camera is also used at times.
