Squamosa Clams
Tridacna squamosa

These clams are great for beginners as they do not require the intense lighting croceas and maximas prefer. They can grow up to a foot in size and will enjoy placement in either sand or rock in moderate flow. Clams less than 2 inches rely more on feeding than on lighting for survival. Clams of this size will need regular feedings of foods such as DT's Phytoplankton. When taking picture and making shadows, the clams obviously react and close up making pic taking difficult, nevermind trying to do this while using the flash. Please keep this in mind. The clam WILL look different from the side.
