Montipora capricornus Montipora capricornus are known for their spiraling vase shape and are usually uniform in color. The convoluted shape of this coral reveals that it's from higher flow areas. A specimen which is brown in the wild may change to various colors including pink, purple and green when kept under the lighting in our reef tanks. Montiporas in general are hardy corals which are disease and bleach resistant. They are submissive corals and will often lose battles over turf with other corals so care should be taken in their placement within your tank. Montiporas, especially the capricornus variety are one of the most desired corals in the hobby. |
